Noida: As India accelerates its transition towards electric mobility, RoadGrid India has received financial assistance from the Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, for the commercialization of its indigenous Universal EV Charging Technology.
The support will enable RoadGrid India Private Limited, Indore, to establish a manufacturing and assembly facility for Universal EV Chargers, strengthening India’s EV charging infrastructure while advancing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and sustainable transportation.
The project, titled “Setting up the Manufacturing and Assembly Facility for Commercialization of Universal EV Charger,” aims to establish indigenous manufacturing capabilities for next-generation universal EV chargers.
The initiative is expected to enhance India’s charging infrastructure ecosystem by promoting domestic production and reducing dependence on imported charging technologies.
The manufacturing and assembly facility will support the commercial production of Universal EV Chargers capable of serving electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and commercial electric vehicles through a single integrated charging platform.
The project addresses one of the major challenges in EV adoption by developing interoperable, high-performance charging infrastructure that can support multiple vehicle categories.
RoadGrid has developed a patented Universal EV Charger that integrates a 140 kW dual DC gun (CCS2 + Type 6) charging system along with AC charging capability.
The charger enables seamless charging for a broad range of electric vehicles through a single platform.
The project includes the complete manufacturing and assembly of power electronics, thermal management systems, embedded software, communication modules, metering systems, control hardware, enclosure fabrication, quality testing, calibration, and final system integration.
The manufacturing facility has also been designed with scalability to support future expansion into ultra-fast charging systems and integrated energy storage solutions.
Founded in 2020, RoadGrid has established itself as an integrated EV charging technology company offering indigenous hardware, intelligent software platforms, and charging infrastructure services.
The company manufactures EV chargers, deploys public charging infrastructure, and develops smart energy management solutions. Its recent strategic collaborations with industry stakeholders further strengthen its role in India’s growing EV charging ecosystem.
The project is expected to significantly increase domestic manufacturing capacity for advanced EV charging equipment while promoting import substitution in critical power electronics. It is also expected to support the expansion of public charging infrastructure across urban centres, highways, residential communities, and commercial fleet operations.
By combining indigenous hardware with intelligent software and smart-grid integration, RoadGrid aims to contribute to the development of a robust, interoperable, and future-ready EV charging network in India.
